The American Cemetery in Normandy, France is, for most tourists of the region, the most dramatic, emotional experience. Join Mr. Chapman on a 10-day trip to France in June, 2014.

My Blog will contain commentary, AP/IB study tips, and, inevitably, some rants.

Welcome to ChapmanHistory.Org

As the photograph at left demonstrates, there is incredible beauty in this world.  Yet the camera is positioned on the patio of what was once Adolf Hitler's tea house atop a mountain above Berchtesgaden, Germany.  The area below this peak was a getaway destination for many of the highest-ranking Nazi officials.  They could unwind from the pressures of their positions and take in natures bounty.  History is not the study of landforms or wildlife.  It is the study of the actions and resulting events of humanity.  While the natural world unquestionably impacts the decisions and actions of man, it is the response that we study.  Natural history is another discipline, more akin to science.  Human history resides in the discipline known as the humanities.  Welcome to the study of humanity.
